The goal of eiat
is to consolidate the production of Regional Input-Output Tables at the Local Government Area level for use with the Economic Impact Assessment Tool (EIAT) developed by the Australian Industrial Transformation Institute for the Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN). The EIAT itself can be found here. This includes the automatic updating of Regional Input-Output Tables each year when the Australian Bureau of Statistics updates the Australian National Accounts: Input-Output Tables.
Continuous integration
The Regional Input-Output Tables are derived from two main sources, both from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Australian National Accounts: Input-Output Tables
The National Accounts are updated on an annual basis. This package takes the 115 sector Input-Output Industry Group flow table Table 5. Industry by industry flow table (direct allocation of imports) and FTE and total employment by industry table Table 20. Employment by industry consolidates it to a 19 sector ANZSIC flow table. The Australian 19 sector Input-Output table is the basis for Regional Input-Output tables.
Each Friday between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM AEDT a CI process will check for updates to these tables, and if necessary, update the Regional Input-Output tables.
Employment by industry data from the 2011, 2016 and 2021 Australian Census
Census data is updated about every 5 years and is accessible through the Austalian Bureau of Statistics TableBuilder Pro. API access is currently not available for TableBuilder data. If this does not change by the 2026 Census, employment by industry data will need to be integrated into eiat
package manually.
